Marian Averill Lawson, my youngest sister, dies at the age of 50, on James Island in Charleston, South Carolina. Cause of death is accidental drug overdose, the coroner’s report shows half a dozen active substances in her blood stream at the time of death. At least she was sleeping. Since the coroner will not release the body until the autopsy is completed, we bury her in Magnolia Cemetery six weeks later, the day she would have turned 51.
